Several people told us we had to visit a store called Jungle Jim's. I didn't know what to expect, but I thought it would be something like Trader Joe's.
The store is HUGE! We spent almost two hours in the store and didn't even cover the entire store. Tip: If you go get a map!
I borrowed this from the website, but it explains the store pretty well:
Jungle Jim’s International Market is more than a grocery store, it’s a destination! With more than 200,000 square feet of shopping space in each of our stores, there are over 150,000 products from which to choose.
In addition to all the grocery items, you’ll find store tours, food demonstrations and lots of fun and attractions for the whole family.
Our stores also offer more gift shops, boutiques, restaurants and conveniences than any other mega store in the region. Stop in for an hour or make a day of it. However you do it, shopping at Jungle Jim’s is an experience you won’t forget!
Sophia modeling the handgrips on the cart in one of the many beer aisles. |
We went because Dave heard they had an amazing beer selection, which is true, but I was thrilled with their gluten free selection.
The sign says "The Largest Gluten Free Selection in the Midwest". Makes me happy :) |
Not only are there groceries from every part of the world (Dave finally found yuzu)...there are these unique displays all over the place.
Looks like a port-a-potty. It is actually an award winning bathroom. I didn't go in. |

Sherwood Forest anyone? |
I liked how some of the countries were represented by little storefront "rooms". Dave was trying to get Sophie to smile. No such luck. |
There were definitely some questionable products. |
