Taking in the view on a gorgeous day. (Although she preferred the playground to the view.)

Showing her stuffed animal how to bark out the window like the big dogs.
Although I am not a fan of humidity, I love how curly Sophia's hair gets.

The zoo is one of our favorite places to visit. In the fall, Sophia's favorite part was the train, but now she is interested in all of the animals. She also loves the bronze statues around the zoo. When we visited this week, she introduced herself to each statue "Me Sophie" and blew kisses to each one.

Newport Aquarium

We wrapped up our visit with Nanny and Pap Pap by making a trip over to Kentucky to visit the Newport Aquarium. I love walking around the Levee and looking at Ohio across the river.
Sophia loved touching the starfish, sharks, and turtles.
The tanks and tunnels are amazing!
Sophia lost interest in looking at the creatures in the tanks after awhile and decided she would run around, which resulted in her having to stop and regroup for a minute. Fortunately, there were lots of places to climb, play, and interact with along the way.
My favorite part was Turtle Canyon.
Of course we had to stop at Tom + Chee for lunch.

Five on Friday

After a hiatus, I'm linking up with April and the Ladies for another Five on Friday.
Warm weather had me neglecting the old blog a bit, but I am perfectly alright with it.
I have lots of posts started and maybe one day I'll get around to finishing them.
Cheers to the weekend!

One

Do you get HANGRY?
Ha! What a silly word, but I am at fault for this. This article is about how couples can get angrier with each other when their blood sugar is low. Unfortunately for me, when I am hungry no one can escape my rage if you cross me. Good thing I carry snacks with me all the time.

Two

I was given a new-to-me sewing machine that used to be my mother-in-law's. I have been learning to use it through lots of reading of sewing books and watching youtube tutorials. I plan on taking a lesson or two at a local sewing shop, I just want to be a little more comfortable with the machine first.

Three

Are you participating in the #100happydays challenge?
I am through instagram @jenhimmel (follow along!).
My 100 days are coming to a close and I shared my first twenty days here (someday the rest will make it to this space).

Four

I made Chicken Taquitos for the first time and (even though our oven is wonky) they turned out great! I will be making a double batch next time to freeze one set.

Five

As an early father's day present I got Dave a new hammock. The other night I was making dinner and I peeked out on the deck to see these two hanging out and reading together. So sweet.

More fun with Nanny and Pap Pap

We were blessed that Dave's parents were able to visit and spend a week with us. I shared the first part of our adventures with them yesterday.

We took Nanny and Pap Pap to see the Cincinnati Zoo. Sophia proved that trying to take pictures with a toddler is always an adventure. The forecast wasn't great, but we got to see about half of exhibits before the rain won. We ducked in the reptile house when it started pouring and Dave and I got to hold a snake.

The Krohn Observatory has an amazing butterfly exhibit that we visited. Sophia doesn't last too long (it is a little humid and she gets frustrated when she can't catch every butterfly). Dave's Dad had a winged friend that stuck with him almost the entire time we were there.

We also made our first trip to the aquarium while Nanny and Pap Pap were here. I'll share the pictures from that trip soon!
