Five on Friday

It has been way too long since I joined this link-up but I am back with April and the ladies for another Five on Friday!

One

Sophia and I have been fighting the battle of the bows. Ever since she could reach up, she has pulled out every hairband and bow that I have tried to put in her hair. Friends tell me that persistence is the key to get her to keep a bow in, but she is MUCH more stubborn than I am. I waited too long to enforce bow wearing, but I am happy with small victories. I purchased a ton of bows from Polkadot Posies. I have found that the bows stay in a *little* longer if she gets to choose the one she is wearing. She also likes to choose them for her friends :)

Two

Hooray for cooler weather! I am very much looking forward to wearing all of my sweaters and cardigans. Sadly, there will be no new additions to my wardrobe (unless there are amazing sales), but I can't wait to add some toddler girl pieces! Welcome Fall!

Three

I am so excited that The Voice is back on. I can't sing AT ALL, but the show genuinely inspires me. It is one of those shows that makes me laugh, cry, and cheer right along with the artists. I love that the original coaches are back together but I am going to miss Usher this season.

Four

Dave is obsessed with Halloween and we have already visited two of the Halloween stores in the area. He likes the scary side of it, and so far Sophia has not been too creeped out by the zombies.
We still have not decided on how the little one should dress up. She is OBSESSED with dogs so I thought Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz would be darling. I am just afraid that she will look like a little boy in a puppy costume. Luckily there is still about a month to make a decision.

Five

Oh and just a little fun for your weekend.
I saw this on facebook and it made me smile so I had to share.

No no no

Through observation I have learned that I say "no" on repeat when I am correcting behaviors.
Sophia also says "no" frequently. More like "nonono", which is how I often catch myself saying it.

Yesterday was one of those days where EVERYHING was no.
Good morning sweetheart, let's change your diaper - nonono.
{it got changed while we sang itsy bitsy spider}
Do you want waffles and eggs for breakfast - nonono.
{she ate every last bite}
Sophia, we're going to buy you new shoes today - nonono.
{she was thrilled to try on three different sets}

All. Day. Long.
The only good thing about no, was that she said it matter-of-fact and had a great day otherwise.

The highlight of the day for me was bubbles.
I got Sophia an inexpensive little bubble blower and she loves it.
I love that I am not winded after blowing bubbles for ten minutes.

Sorry for the picture overload. I am just loving her cuteness right now!
Who knew that bubbles could bring so much joy?

Almost Normal

Last night felt like things were almost back to normal.

We were in Pennsylvania for two weeks while my Mom was in the hospital. She has had health concerns for years, but this one had me a little scared. After recovering from surgery she was discharged and has more treatment ahead of her, but she is on the right path.

I will be sharing some of the fun that Little Bean had while visiting family in the near future (hopefully).

I haven't had much desire to open the laptop and add to the blog, but yesterday was a good day and I took advantage of some downtime to get some pictures off of the camera and start on the road back to my normal.

Dave was off and we woke him up early for breakfast out of the house and then ran a few errands.
Say "CHEESE"!
Little Bean had her doctor's appointment and was an angel. Her medical records got lost in transit so she did not get any shots, but her physical went well. I LOVE her new doctor. I wish I had gotten a picture of Sophia grabbing ahold of Dr. W's hand and having him escort us back out to the lobby.
The Chef cooked his first meal at home since we left Charlotte and it was divine. Cheesy risotto topped with chicken, artichokes, tomatoes, and a whole bunch of other goodness.
He has a new Sous Chef at home and I am looking forward to handing over my cheese grating duties in the very near future.
Even the best helpers can get startled by the food processor.
I am thankful for the little moments that have helped me get back into the swing of things.

Little Blog Break

Apologies for my absence.

I had an unexpected trip out of town
so the blog has been put on the back burner for now.

I will be back sharing snippets from our life again soon.
