The Halloween Tree

If you know my husband, you know that he is slightly obsessed with Halloween. Dave has a few other obsessions - food, football, pint glasses, booze - but I am glad Sophia and I top that list.
We have an understanding that he is only allowed one new decoration before October 31st, but once things are on sale, he is allowed to get a few additional pieces. We have gathered quite a collection - seven large totes and several bigger pieces.

Once everything is put in place I will share pictures, but today I want to share the tree.
This is our second year with a Halloween Tree. Dave found a black tree discounted at Garden Ridge, along with red and black ornaments. The tree was pre-lit. Last year Dave cut off the strands of white lights so he could string purple and orange lights. It also has (fake) barbed wire, glow-in-the-dark garland, and a star tree topper.
Under the tree Dave made a tree skirt from a circular tablecloth. He cut a slit and dripped red paint on it. And, since no tree is complete without presents, there are severed limbs and a skull.
So far, Sophia has not been scared by anything Halloween related. Once she gets spooked, we will scale back on decorations, but until then, happy haunting!
