Five on Friday

I am linking up with April and the Ladies for another Five on Friday.
Cheers to the weekend!

I am looking forward to the Superbowl on Sunday - not so much for the game itself, but for family time, commercials, and of course, food. We are having chili, sausage balls, buffalo chicken layer dip, some fun dips, cookies, and brownies. It will be just us and hopefully our neighbors since we are still working on making friends in Cincinnati.
If you need some last minute decorations I found these on Pinterest.

I love IKEA. We made a spur of the moment trip this week and I found so many good bargains. They are in the process of changing out all of the display rooms in the showroom and the "As-is" section was full of great deals. There was a coffee table that I wanted, but since it was assembled there was no way it was fitting in my car. I did scoop up several picture frames, knobs, a lantern, and a cabinet door for a diy project.
I couldn't find the regular carts and between all of her running spurts Sophia wanted to sit on the cart. I borrowed a cushion for a chair so Sophia could sit occasionally.

I read this article that really resonated with me. After reading about the teachers who slept overnight with their students thanks to winter weather, this was just another reminder of how awesome some teachers are. I am certain this woman made a difference in the lives of her students.
My favorite part in reference to teachers:
"TEACH ON, WARRIORS. You are the first responders, the front line, the disconnection detectives, and the best and ONLY hope we've got for a better world. What you do in those classrooms when no one is watching - it's our best hope."

We are back on our smoothie kick. Smoothies are more of a summer treat to me, but Sophia is not great about eating her veggies so I have to find a way to sneak them in. We've been enjoying them for dessert. I don't have a set recipe, but our current favorite involves a banana, pineapple, frozen berries, spinach, almond milk, and a little honey.
I don't recommend these berries for smoothies...way too seedy!

I opened an email account for my little bean. I started this blog as a way to keep our family involved in my pregnancy long-distance and continued it so that Sophia can look back at it one day. I like the idea of sending a daily email or picture that is just for her. I already send my family a daily picture (most days) so I think I will just be adding her onto that.

  1. Amen to that teacher article!! LOVE IT!!!! xx

  2. Those super bowl printables are adorable! You'll have to share how everything turns out! I love the "as is" section of Ikea! I have to be careful in that store, it's like a time warp and can take a toll on my credit card. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy that peanut, she is adorable!

  3. Welcome to the life of a stay at home mom!! I am so glad you get to experience your little bean with you every day! And I love the email idea. such a great thing to do!! happy friday and glad to be a new follower. :) :) Come on over and visit us as well!!

    1. I never thought I wanted to be a stay at home mom, but I can't imagine doing anything else right now!

  4. IKEA is by far my favorite store! We always happen to spend hours there! Happy weekend!

  5. IKEA is the best! your little girl is darling!

  6. Your lit'l "super" shopping helper is the cutest :) We don't have an IKEA in our area...I hear that I'm missing out ;) Have a great weekend! Enjoy the Super Bowl fun!

  7. I love the email account idea!! I've read about that somewhere else before too...but I'm going to have to copy you!! :)

    1. Copy away...miss you! Hopefully your little lady is here soon. Can't wait to 'meet' her!

  8. oh my goodness…so much to say: 1. have you ever put greek yogurt in your smoothie? it is so good and thickens it up a bit so you don't have to use so much fruit. it also helps balance the veggie taste. so good. 2. your sophia is SO SO cute! i can't wait for kaye to be that age. she's so full of energy i don't know how to keep up. 3. i wish i was married to a chef. i'm sure you hear that a lot! found you via the linkup! new reader…yay!

  9. Aww your daughter is adorable, especially in her Superman outfit!!! I love that idea of starting an e-mail account for her!! So smart!! I second the greek yogurt or cottage cheese in smoothies...really amps up the protein. I also add pureed veggies such as carrots/sweet potato/spinach (like you mentioned) and it really makes it a full meal deal for my 2 year old :)

  10. Love your little lady in that superman outfit!!! Cute blog, love your five!!! :)

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.
