Kitchen Adventures with the Mini

Sophia loves to help and is becoming VERY independent. The phrase you will hear most often in our house is "No, Me!". It has been a constant reminder that she is growing up and not my little baby anymore. I can't believe that she will be TWO at the end of the month.

Some days I forget to let her take the lead. It is so much easier to fold laundry, prep a meal, clean, you name it...while she is napping in the afternoon. I try to cram as much in as I can while she is sleeping. She is such a good helper and listens so well, but things seem to take three times as long when she helps.

Her favorite place to help is the kitchen. 

I love to watch her make pizza. She moves the spoon with sauce back and forth over the crust, drops handfuls of cheese, and adds toppings like a pro. 

When Dave is home I try to find little things that she can do, like picking herbs, to help with preparing a meal.

I am far from a master in the kitchen. I have cooked more in the past few months than I have in my entire life. I am trying to be more purposeful with making time for her to take the lead. Sophia is a chocolate lover and will frequently request "chocka" so I thought she would enjoy making pudding. She did - mostly. She didn't quite understand why she couldn't have the whole bowl to herself so that caused a mini meltdown.

I hope she'll always want to be my little helper.
