Summer Ideas - Help needed!

I have started my list of things to do this summer with Sophia. I will be staying home with Sophia for the summer, but there is no way that we will be staying at home. We will be out and about as much as possible!

As of right now we have no trips or vacations planned, but I would love to get to the mountains, beach, and to Pennsylvania to visit family.

I have a pretty good list started, but would love some suggestions on other things to do with a toddler!

Things I am looking forward to:
  • Joining a Mom Group.
  • The local Farmer's Markets.
  • Playdates - I can't wait to catch up with all of my mommy friends!
  • Storytime at the library and local bookstores.
  • Trips to the local parks and playgrounds.
  • The indoor playground at Plaza Fiesta.
  • Music class.
  • Time at the pool and swim lessons.
  • Trying out classes at The Little Gym.
  • Discovery Place Kids
What other ideas do you have for fun with a little one that is inexpensive?

Spring Break!

I had a very much needed low-key Spring Break.

Sophia spent some time at her school which allowed me to get some things done without my sidekick. I love having her with me, but errands are so much easier when I don't have to bring her with me. I also did a *little* spring cleaning. There is so much that I still have to get done, but progress has been made.

Dave and I went on a lunch date. We finally checked out Ru San's - a sushi place here in Charlotte. Dave tried out the buffet. I could not get over all of the options that were available to choose from. They have a huge selection of rolls to choose from, but unfortunately for me most of the specialty rolls were tempura, fried, or had 'fake' crab. Even though the gluten free selection was limited I enjoyed my meal. They did not have gluten free soy sauce so next time I will be bringing my own.

I enjoyed some shopping. All of us got some new items for our wardrobe. Sophie got the most :) I found some cute rompers at my favorite kids thrift store and found a few other summer items that Sophia had to have.
Some sales that I picked up from Gap.
I thought I would be working at Gap but after not being able to punch in for my first shift I found out that I had automatically been terminated since I had not worked in 90 days. I will be applying for my job again this summer. I've worked for the company since 1999 and love having a position with them. The clothing discount is pretty sweet too.

The best part of my break was time with Sophia. She is non-stop and so much fun. I can't wait until summer and having more time with her!

Other things I did during the week:
  • playdates
  • time at the park
  • a much needed brow wax
  • a little yardwork
  • new glasses
  • finished up some lessons for school
  • caught up on blog posts
  • watched Lincoln and The Lorax
  • got my summer budget in order
  • packed up clothes that were too small for Sophia

Updates

I feel like I never have time to keep this current anymore. I have all of Sophia's monthly posts ready, but the pictures still need to be added before I use the power of blogger to make it look like they were posted in a timely fashion. I can't believe she is already thirteen months old! What happened to the time!

School is on Spring Break this week and I am enjoying the much needed time away from my students. This year has been challenging. I am having a hard time finding balance between school and home. I don't feel I am doing the best I can in either area, but I am doing the best I am able to do right now. Papers may take a little longer to get graded, the house may not get cleaned regularly, but it is getting done at a pace I can handle. Soon it will be summer.

Just a few recent unedited phone pictures of my little lady...hopefully I will find time to blog more soon. Today a visit to the dentist is in order.

Blowing kisses is the new way to kiss goodnight at our house.
I kind of miss the tongue-out kisses she used to give, but I'm happy for any kind of kiss I can get!

Plates make great drums!

Working on eating from a plate.

Walking in the park with Daddy.
I might have teared up while taking this picture.
Wishing I could freeze time!

Loving any toy with buttons that makes noise.

Morning drumming on the front door.

Out for a walk on a beautiful day.
